About the Department

The Department of Information and Computer Science was founded in 1991 as the fifth department of the Faculty of Science in order to promote interdisciplinary advanced researches and higher level education. The departmental academic staffs have specialized expertise and cover a wide range of research fields including mathematics, computer sciences, climatology, geology, and biology and interfaces between these topics.

The department has two courses. The Computer Sciences course covers numerical algorithm, topology visualization, parallel computing and virtual visualization. The Natural Information Sciences course covers climatology and geology by satellite remote sensing and mathematical modeling in ecology and evolution.

We offer students interdisciplinary education in undergraduate and graduate courses at high level and aim to develop human resources competent in cross-disciplinary fields needed in various social and economic stages.
